Another interesting and fun cookbook by Vanessa Olsen, Pressure Cooker XL Cookbook: 5 Ingredients or Less, 100 Irresistible Pressure Cooker Recipes for Quick, Healthy, and Delicious Meals is full of unconventional dishes and simple recipes for all your favorites as well.  The book describes how pressure cookers were invented and how safe they are in the current age.  It also helps the reader put together their cooker, find the correct buttons on it, and also to clean it.  The narrative prior to the recipes is very informative and makes the reader familiar with what used to be a very scary piece of kitchen equipment so they feel more at ease using this safer version.  The recipes are divided up into different categories making them easy to find and the step by step guides include which buttons to push and how to use the machine to prepare the food.

I really like the way the categories are divided up in the cookbook.  There’s really something for everyone from Vegan dishes to main course meat, desserts, and side dishes this book covers it all.  The directions for using the machine in the recipe are very simple to understand and makes me feel more comfortable that I could prepare this recipe with a pressure cooker.  Overall, this book makes me feel much more at ease and more familiar with the pressure cooker, which is an excellent way to prepare food as it keeps a lot of the nutrients in the foods we are eating.  I loved the variety of dishes presented in the book and I also really enjoyed the different recipes in the book.  There’s a lot of good staples in the book which is important especially for 5 ingredient meals, but also there were baked pears, lamb recipes, and recipes with curry and other spices I wouldn’t usually turn to.  It is always fun to find these new recipes in books and try something new!

The book was also well edited and laid out.  Each recipe has directions to the pressure cooker, a list of ingredients, and a description of the recipe.  There is also a grocery staple ingredient list in the front of the book so you make sure you have what you need to find a recipe you can cook at home rather than calling for pizza.

If you need to cook fast meals and still want something to feel good about on the table, this is an excellent cookbook for you.  Also since it is only 5 ingredients, it makes this an affordable cookbook for everyone.  Whether you are new to pressure cookers or experienced with one, I also think this is a great book for you as there is also a lot of information in it and instructions that will help you to master the pressure cooker.  There’s really something for everyone in this cookbook, and I recommend it as a good staple to have in the kitchen.
