The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie O’Martian

In this thirty day devotional for women, The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie O’Martian, each day is devoted to a different prayer need your husband has that you can make a difference in his life by making sure to pray for it. The author uses her personal experiences and those of her friends to illustrate how prayer has made a difference in her and their marriages. Each day has a discussion of the topic, a prayer addressing that topic that incorporates Bible passages, and several key Bible verses to reflect on. The needs are both practical and spiritual and will grow you as a Christian wife.

The best thing about the book is the prayers the author has written to address the prayer need for the day. The author uses scripture to support the requests asked of God as well as reminding Him of His promises to claim in our life. They were very moving and very well written. The key Bible verses are helpful if there is a specific thing you are praying for in your husband’s life that you can reflect on during the difficult times. The discussions at the beginning of each devotion are also well crafted. It is helpful to hear about other couples that have dealt with similar situations and came out on the positive side of it. It is helpful to hear how much prayer has made a difference in their marriage and lives. That alone is powerful. The author does a great job explaining the male psyche and what she has found to be true in praying for her own husband and off his own feedback.

This is a helpful book with a lot of things to teach the reader, but more importantly will deepen the prayer life of wives praying for their husbands. The prayers included are simply phenomenal and practical. There are other resources available with this book, but the key verses are helpful for strengthening yourself during your time praying and living out conflicts with your husband. This is simply a wealth of information and practical means of working on your marriage with prayer.
